I was born & raised in Queens, New York to my mother, an ambitious & driven Ecuadorian immigrant. Along with 2 of my 3 older sisters, my younger brother AND younger sister, we had a tumultuous but fulfilling life in The Big Apple. We moved to Tampa, Florida in 1998 & I’ve been here ever since.
From 2005 to 2009, I attended the University of South Florida for mass communications journalism & Hillsborough Community College for film studies. Instabilities in my family’s life came up, and I made the difficult choice to drop out of college. I ended up taking service jobs throughout my adult life, from food service to retail positions. Nowadays, I work at a health insurance sales company as a ways to make a living.
In 2013, my younger brother Jose Casabona, and my best friend Angel Mendez, formed the YouTube channel team called “The Raven’s Flock”, a nerd culture channel where we attended anime & sci-fi conventions, as well as discuss different social issues within the nerd community. They asked me to join them, bringing my journalist’s ethics to the table and helping them direct their content the way they envisioned. During my time on the channel, we have gained a modest following who passionately support our desires to speak truth to power in the nerd community while proselytizing the fun and wonder of nerd culture.
