MY CAMPAIGN’S KEY ISSUES

The Trump GOP and right-wing influencers have recently been pushing the idea that, SOMEHOW, having empathy for other people is a bad thing. Pastor Josh McPherson claimed “empathy is dangerous. Empathy is toxic. Empathy will align you with hell.” Elon Musk said “the fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy.”

These are the kind of people who are influencing the Trump administration and the entire GOP & conservative movement. The policies that Donald Trump has championed are the proof: blatantly cruel mistreatment of minorities, cutting support for the least of us for tax breaks for the wealthy, and the list goes on. This is WRONG, point blank period!

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY RADICAL EMPATHY?”

I believe that we, as Americans and as human beings as a whole, want others to be happy, or at least as happy as we want for ourselves. Regardless of our individual upbringings or ways of life, principles like community, charity, honesty and honor are all held up as noble virtues to aspire to.

My policy proposals for the future of America always start with this in mind: “How can we solve this problem while maintaining people’s individual rights, and produce an outcome that is fundamentally kind towards everyone?” I know, it sounds corny and childish. But the way I see it…
